Does anyone use CRIMP beads?

Postby mrskp1 » Fri Dec 10, 2010 5:10 pm

I am attempting to make a rosary with "crimp" style beads. Does anyone know how to do this? What is the media you would use to put the beads on? Thanks.

Yes, Elaine, I've used them. Crimp beads or crimp tubes are used to secure the ends of a rosary made with "flexwire" after you form a loop at the end to attach it to the centerpiece or crucifix.

I learned this method from a great tutorial at the site of Margot Blair: ... aries.html
Another very helpful guide is from Anne at Atelier Beads:

You will need to invest in a crimping tool: ... B000SNBC8I

The crimp beads are tiny. I use a visor magnifier because my eyesight is somewhat blurry. I've had good results with Beadalon 19-strand flexwire to string rosaries. 7-strand is less expensive, but eventually it will get kinks that are not reversible. 49-strand is the best quality for ultimate drape. There are other brands, too.

If you string all of your rosary beads directly onto the wire on the spool, attach the first loop and then cut the wire, there will be less waste.

Oh, almost forgot... you will also need to invest in a wire cutter, something similar to this:

Let me know how it goes. I'll try to answer any question you may have.

Peace be with you.

Here are a couple of you tube videos on crimping beads:

"I look to you,
brothers & sisters of every state of life,
to you Christian families,
to you the sick & elderly,
and to you young people:
Confidently take up the rosary once again."
